Membership Benefits

Free Access to Weekly Training Events

Many clubs charge a fee every time you turn up to train. Howgill Harriers do not charge members for any outdoor training session, and it is only in the Winter indoor sessions when we ask for a small contribution to cover the cost of booking the venue. Visitors and those who want to try us out for a few weeks are welcome to the same benefit for a reasonable time .

England Athletics registration number and competition licence

This is required at some events and if you select this as part of your membership Howgill Harriers will apply for this on your behalf. Junior members selecting this option are subsidised by the club.

Access to club places/draws in major races

For certain events, such as the London Marathon, clubs are granted a small number of places for their members. Please note, priority for London Marathon places will go to those who have applied to the initial ballot.

Free entry to specific Howgill Harriers Races

Members are usually granted one or two free places in events we put on. This can vary dependent on a number of factors. Races such as the Christmas Handicap are also free, members-only events.

10% discount at Pete Bland Sports Dubbed the “Mecca of the running world”.

Be part of ‘Cumbria´s friendly Running Club’ For most members the above are perks, whilst the real enjoyment comes simply from running in an informal and un-pressured environment, with friendly and like-minded people. There are those who wish to push themselves hard in the process, but claim to enjoy this too!!
